A headline fee is not the total cost
The real cost can include the trading fee, bid-ask spread, deposit charge, withdrawal charge, network fee, and foreign-exchange conversion. A “zero fee” instant purchase can still cost more than an order-book trade if the quote is worse.
Entry-level spot fees
These are public entry tiers or official calculation examples. Token discounts, VIP rates, and regional differences are excluded.
| Exchange | Maker | Taker | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | About 0.10% | About 0.10% | BNB discount, VIP level, product, and region. |
| OKX | 0.08% | 0.10% | Official standard example; account and region can differ. |
| BitoPro | 0.10% | 0.20% | BITO fee payment can qualify for a discount under current rules. |
| Crypto.com Exchange | Check current table | Check current table | The app's instant quote is not the Exchange order book. |
| Kraken Pro | 0.40% | 0.80% | Entry tier after the July 9, 2026 cross-platform update. |
Kraken now determines a user's tier using the best of 30-day spot volume, futures volume, or assets held on the platform. This can benefit larger customers, but older comparison articles may materially understate the cost for a low-volume spot user.
What a $1,000 spot order could cost
Before spread and discounts:
| Example | Approximate fee |
|---|---|
| OKX maker at 0.08% | $0.80 |
| OKX taker at 0.10% | $1.00 |
| BitoPro maker at 0.10% | $1.00 equivalent |
| BitoPro taker at 0.20% | $2.00 equivalent |
| Kraken tier-one maker at 0.40% | $4.00 |
| Kraken tier-one taker at 0.80% | $8.00 |
This does not prove that OKX is always cheapest. Spread and liquidity can outweigh the fee, and users who need a fiat route must include bank, FX, and transfer costs.
BitoPro TWD costs
BitoPro announced that its standard Taiwan-dollar withdrawal fee became TWD 30 per withdrawal in March 2025. Bankee-linked account benefits and campaigns have changed over time, so users should rely on the logged-in withdrawal screen and current official terms instead of an old promotional article.
Crypto withdrawal fees are dynamic. Check the selected asset and network immediately before confirming a withdrawal.
Four hidden costs
Spread and slippage
A market order consumes available liquidity. On a thin pair, the average execution price can be much worse than the last displayed price.
Instant buy and convert quotes
The cost may be embedded in the quote instead of shown as a separate fee. Compare the final amount of crypto received.
Withdrawal network cost
The sending and receiving platforms must support the same token-network combination. A lower fee is useless if the receiving platform cannot credit the transfer.
Futures funding and leverage
A low derivatives trading fee does not make leverage cheap or safe. Funding, liquidation, slippage, and position size can dominate the outcome.
A practical comparison process
- Identify the exact product: spot order book, instant buy, card, convert, or futures.
- Open the official fee page and check your account's region and tier.
- Compare the final quote for the same asset, size, and time.
- Add fiat funding, FX, trading, withdrawal, and eventual cash-out costs.
- Use a small test transfer before moving a large balance.

FAQ
Which crypto exchange has the lowest fee?
For the published entry-level spot examples, OKX is often lower. The answer can change after spread, fiat access, withdrawals, region, and account tier are included.
Is a maker order always better?
It usually has a lower fee, but it may not fill. Saving a fraction of a percent is not useful if the order no longer fits the trade plan.
Does every referral code reduce fees?
No. A referral can be a fee discount, task reward, temporary campaign, or referrer-only benefit. Check current official terms.
